LLP

The European Commission has integrated its various educational and training initiatives under a single umbrella, the Lifelong Learning Programme. With a significant budget of nearly 7 billion for 2007 to 2013, the new programme replaces previous education, vocational training and e-Learning programmes, which ended in 2006.

LLP

The LLP provides funding for all stages of lifelong learning; for activities at school, at college, at university, in the workplace and in the community. The LLP is made up of several different programmes offering a variety of opportunities.

There is a big call round open at the moment. For more information please click here.

Comenius Programme

The Comenius programme focuses on the first phase of education, from pre-school and primary to secondary schools. It is relevant for all members of the education community: pupils, teachers, local authorities, parents associations, non-government organisations, teacher training institutes, universities and all other educational staff.

As part of the Lifelong Learning Programme, Comenius seeks to develop knowledge and understanding among young people and educational staff of the diversity of European cultures, languages and values. It helps young people acquire the basic life skills and competences necessary for their personal development, for future employment and for active citizenship. Erasmus Programme

The ERASMUS programme was already launched in 1987. It addresses the teaching and learning needs of all those in formal higher education and vocational training at tertiary level, up to and including doctoral studies, working for individuals and the institutions and organizations providing or facilitating activities in the field such as education and training. Arguably one of the best-known Community actions, it encourages student and teacher mobility through decentralized actions implemented by National Agencies. The programme promotes through centralised actions the transnational cooperation among Higher Education Institutions across Europe managed by the Executive Agency.

The Erasmus centralised actions under the Call 2008 are composed of three sub-actions, which are Multilateral Projects, Networks and Accompanying Measures. For more information please click here.

The Leonardo da Vinci programme covers a wide range of actions, i.e. types of projects, some of which are managed by the Executive Agency or by National Agencies. Policy issues of the programme are handled by the European Commission, Directorate General Education and Culture. For more information please click here.

Grundtvig Programme

The Grundtvig programme specifically seeks to address the educational challenge of an ageing population and to provide adults with alternative pathways to updating their skills and competences. The programme encompasses all types of learning, whether these take place in the 'formal' or 'non-formal' system of education for adults, or in more 'informal' ways, such as autonomous learning, community learning or experiential learning. It is open to anyone in adult education. This includes adult learners, teachers and trainers from a variety of organisations including local authorities, non-governmental organisations, charities, universities, community groups, etc. 'Adult' in the Grundtvig programme refers to all persons over the age of 25 and all persons aged 16-24 who are no longer undergoing initial education within the formal education system. The Grundtvig programme provides funding for a wide range of activities. Some examples are basic skills, foreign languages, parental education, arts and culture projects. All projects involve working with European partners and offer a learning and personal development experience for staff and learners. For more information please click here.
