The Certified EU Project Manager initiative (ManagEUr) was a European project funded under the Leonardo da Vinci Pilot Project Programme.
Project Background & Objectives
Successfully managing EU-funded projects requires a dedicated skill set to coordinate geographically dispersed international teams, satisfy complex administrative and financial requirements, and ensure high-quality deliverable design. ManagEUr was launched to provide structured guidance and accredited qualification standards, specifically addressing the training needs of SME managers, regional innovation leaders, educational decision-makers, division heads in large enterprises, and academic staff. A key focus was easing the integration of newly joined and pre-accession EU member states by building local project management capacity.
Key Results & Core Deliverables
- European Skill Card: A standardized skill definition structuring the core competencies, learning elements, and performance criteria required for a certified EU project manager.
- Online Self-Assessment & Accreditation System: Built on the CREDIT platform, this online portal allows professionals to browse skill profiles, take multiple-choice self-assessments, identify specific skill gaps, generate personal learning paths, and submit evidence for formal assessment.
- 14 Comprehensive Training Modules: Dedicated courseware covering critical areas of project execution, including Project Planning, Contract Management, Controlling Performance & Efforts, Financial Reporting, Quality & Risk Management, Conflict Management, Cultural Aspects, and e-Working Infrastructures for Team Management.
- Practical Management Guideline: A practical book co-authored by methodology experts and experienced EU project leaders, offering practical advice, step-by-step instructions, and real-world case studies aligned with the training modules.
- Multilingual Training & Capacity Building: Materials were developed and translated into English, German, Hungarian, Spanish, Slovene, and Romanian. The project delivered 35 trial workshops across all partner countries and organized train-the-trainer courses to build a sustainable European network of qualified trainers.
